The Council of Health Insurance "CHI" is preparing to launch an updated package of benefits and insurance coverage limits, as well as Insurance Drug Formulary, beginning in early October, as part of the CHI's vision to be a global leader in prevention and to improve the quality and efficiency of health services provided to beneficiaries.
It is expected that 18 new benefits will be added to the health insurance policy and that 10 other benefits will be improved, so that the implementation of the new policies will start on 1 October 2022, which were drafted to target seven main objectives: beneficiary prevention, promotion of health, reduction of disease complications, improvement of beneficiary capacity and functions, facilitation of beneficiary group access to service, beneficiary empowerment, and promotion of service quality and efficiency.
The launch of the benefits package, updated coverage limits, and Insurance Drug Formulary, according to Dr. Nasser Al-Juhani, CHI's official spokesperson and Executive Director for Enablement and Supervision, are among the steps aimed at achieving the goals of the CHI's vision and enabling beneficiaries to obtain their full rights from care and prevention at the highest levels of quality and efficiency.
Al-Juhani said: “CHI added a number of updated benefits related to exploratory preventive examinations, vaccinations, women's health care, in addition to obesity surgeries, and kidney transparent, increased benefits related to mental health coverage to reach 50,000 SR for acute and chronic cases instead of 15,000 SR, as well as increasing dialysis cost coverage and other benefits."
He stated that the updates will be implemented on October 1st, and that they will be applied to health insurance policies issued or renewed on that date and thereafter, noting that they are working tirelessly to contribute to improving beneficiaries' health and the quality and efficiency of health services provided.
