The Council of Health Insurance (CHI) announced that starting from today, Monday, March 4, 2024, the roles and responsibilities of the health insurance sector have been transferred to the Insurance Authority (IA), which commenced its operations last November.
CHI affirmed its continued roles in enforcing compulsory health insurance, determining those covered by the mandatory coverage, accrediting and qualifying healthcare providers to deliver services to CHI beneficiaries. Additionally, it will continue operating NPHIES for health insurance transactions (SHIB) and striving to be a globally leading entity in prevention and enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services for CHI beneficiaries by enabling them to obtain their full rights to care and protection.
The official spokesman for the CHI, Dr. Naser Al-Juhani, the Executive Director for Empowerment and Supervision, commended the integrated efforts and synergy between the authorities in providing the best high-quality services to beneficiaries.
Al-Juhani explained that all the roles and responsibilities of the insurance sector have been fully transferred under the umbrella of the Insurance Authority, which will oversee its operations. He clarified that beneficiaries can contact the Insurance Authority regarding complaints and inquiries related to the health insurance sector, as all its authorities have been transferred from CHI to IA.
Al-Juhani affirmed CHI's continued provision of services to health insurance beneficiaries, receiving complaints and inquiries related to compulsory health insurance, and supervising healthcare providers. He also emphasized CHI's commitment to raising the level of compliance with standards, regulations, and laws that contribute to enhancing quality and efficiency, positively impacting beneficiaries and their health.
