Starting Today, Monday, July 1, 2024, mandatory insurance for registered domestic workers with their employers begins if their number exceeds four (4) individuals. The general requirements for implementing benefits and coverage limits under the policy include compliance with providing a medical disclosure form, obtaining approval from the health insurance company, and ensuring all domestic workers.
The mandatory insurance for domestic workers is part of the Health Insurance Council and the Insurance Authority's efforts to enable all beneficiaries to access comprehensive care and prevention and to empower stakeholders to achieve justice, transparency, excellence and performance.
The decision aims to achieve comprehensive healthcare and ensure the sustainability of healthcare coverage while incentivizing health insurance companies and healthcare providers to offer new products. In addition to increasing career opportunities in all medical and non-medical specialties within insurance companies and healthcare providers.
Ms. Iman Al-Tariqi, the official spokeswoman for the Health Insurance Council, stated, "Today, in partnership with the Insurance Authority, we have begun implementing mandatory health insurance for registered domestic workers with their employers if their number exceeds four individuals. The domestic workers' insurance document includes primary care, public health and emergency cases, hospitalization coverage without participation in cost-sharing, emergency treatment in clinics with unlimited visits, vaccinations and examinations."
